IGEM 2016 eyes business leads of RM1.5b

KUALA LUMPUR, June 8 — The 7th International Greentech and Eco Products Exhibition and Conference Malaysia (IGEM 2016), which targeted business leads of RM1.5 billion, is expected to attract 350 exhibitors from over 30 countries.

In a statement today, IGEM said the exhibition, from October 5-8, 2016, will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

“The exhibition, themed ‘Green Business for Sustainability’, is set to focus on promoting green businesses in Malaysia and across the Asean region,” it said.

Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water, Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Johnity Ongkili, said for seven years, IGEM has attracted leading industry players, trade commissions, government officials and visitors gobally, to exchange innovation, expertise and knowledge, while generating cross-country business opportunities.

“IGEM’s solid track record has continued to position it as the region’s leading green technology event and as a central hub for developing green business within Asean,” he said.

Malaysian Green Technology Corp (GreenTech Malaysia) Group Chief Executive Officer, Ahmad Hadri Haris, said this year the corporation will team up with new parties to offer fresh content and make IGEM 2016 more exciting.

“I am confident that IGEM 2016 will continue to be a strategic platform for our exhibitors to grow their businesses within Malaysia, while providing an opportunity for them to make inroads into the Asean region,” he said.       

GreenTech said since 2010, IGEM has attracted over 350 exhibitors and 300,000 visitors from over 50 countries and generated an estimated RM8.8 billion in business leads, with the highest RM1.98 billion last year.
