More Rural Transformation centres needed in remote areas in Sabah

KOTA MARUDU: Energy, Green Technology and Water minister Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili has called for more mini Rural Transformation Centres (RTC) for villagers to get access to information.

The mini centre is established by Rural and urban Development Ministry to disseminate details on government services, youth training programmes, support and financing for entrepreneurs as well as education.

“The availability of the centres is important in reaching out to the village folks in efforts to improve their economic status. “It is also an important platform to spread awareness among the youths and villagers on the training, education and other opportunities made available to them,” he said when launching the mini RTC in Kampung Pinatau here on Friday.

The RTC in Kampung Pinatau is the 19th facility in Sabah. Maximus, who is also Kota Marudu MP, said the constituency has more than one districts therefore there should be more RTC to serve the people.
