SHAH ALAM, Feb 6 (Bernama) -- Local mobile phone maker CSL Manufacturing (M) Sdn Bhd is optimistic that its two newly launched mobile phones, the Blueberry@9500 (Blueberry@9500) and G5 VGame, will be well received in the domestic and regional markets.
CSL's group chairman Datuk Eric Chuah said the Blueberry which has a QWERTY keypad, mobile TV and WiFi and is e-mail enabled is expected to do well due to its affordable price of almost RM600 per unit and the popularity of QWERTY keypad which allowed the user to chat and send text message faster.
Chuah said that CSL managed to sell about 20,000 units of the Blueberry a month in Indonesia as the telecommunication companies there were offering unlimited e-mail packages for as low as RM15 a month.
For the Malaysian market, the company expects to sell about 10,000 units of the gadget per month, he said at a press conference during the company's 10-year anniversary celebrations here Friday night.
For the G5 VGame, Chuah said the product incorporated video games like baseball and tennis inside the touchscreen handphone, besides being equipped with FM radio, MP3/MP4 player and mobile TV, video and sound recorder, making it an integrated entertaiment gadget.
The company has sold 30,000 units of the G5 VGame in Southeast Asian countries and was looking to sell between 5,000 and 6,000 units in Malaysia, he said.
The two products were launched by Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili in conjunction with the company's anniversary celebrations.
Ongkili said that affordability and various features like mobile TV, music player and camera seemed to be the main selling point for the CSL products.
